Job Summary

Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
Maximise student and group leader satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds their expectations.
Support, monitor and develop teachers to ensure that they can deliver the academic programme. Promote the development of students life skills.
Ensuring students are inducted, placed and receive enjoyable instruction and appropriate certification.

Details of Position

As an Embassy Summer Director of Studies, your role will be key to the successful development of student's English language skills during their course.
Our mission is to prepare students from all over the world, for life in a global society and success in a global economy. Through a variety of excursions, activities and English language tuition our summer camps offer a unique experience, and exciting opportunities for all involved.
As a Director of Studies you'll need to support, monitor and develop our teaching staff, in order to ensure the best possible delivery of the teaching programme, whilst providing an exemplary level of dedication to the students development and welfare.
Together with your academic team you will need to ensure that all students are appropriately; inducted, placed and of course having an enjoyable experience.
As part of your role, you may be required to teach to ensure the smooth delivery of the academic programme alongside delivering workshops to your team.
WHAT TRAINING WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ME?
As a senior member of our academic team, you will work alongside our Academic co-ordinators and operations team, who have the capacity to support you from day one. Furthermore, those working in our more complex centres, will operate with additional senior teaching staff (Senior Teacher, Assistant Director of Studies)
We offer all our managers the opportunity to take part in our Management Training Weekend, where we give you the opportunity to be involved a number of practical and theory based workshops.
This training event gives you the opportunity to meet our Head Office teams and our loyal returning centre management teams.
This event will also give you the chance to network across our portfolio, opening up useful lines of communication for the summer.
We also offer all of our managers access to virtual collaborative resources.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
As a British Council accredited school, all of our senior academic staff need to provide evidence that shows they are:
Educated to Degree Level or equivalent
DELTA, Trinity Lic. Diploma in TESOL, MA in ELT or Applied Linguistics qualified
To be shortlisted by our Summer recruitment team ideally you will have experience in the following departments:
Experience working with juniors
2-3 year's teaching experience
Experience in the placement and monitoring of student progress
Management experience in a summer school or a boarding school and previous residential work experience (Desirable)
You'll also need to demonstrate:
A high degree of IT competency- Outlook & MS Office (specifically Excel) (Essential)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Ability to lead and inspire teachers
Ability to work under pressure
To support our commitment to the welfare and development of our students and staff, our managers will also need to be aware that they will be required to:
Demonstrate the ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
Demonstrate emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviour.
Demonstrate a positive attitude to the use of authority and maintaining discipline.

Cambridge DELTA
We will be happy to consider applicants who possess:
Trinity Dip TESOL
MA in Applied Linguistic + 5 hours of observed teaching practice

Salary and Benefits

From £543 - £614 Gross per week, inclusive of holiday pay
