Job Summary

What teachers need to cover during these lessons is something engaging and active which will focus on students speaking as much as possible, including feedback. We suggest setting up a debate, having a discussion on current affairs, practising practical language and using communicative games, all of which work well, amongst many others. The typical lesson includes a warmer/starter, engaging/learning stage, production stage and plenary/feedback.

Details of Position

We are an English Language School based on Oxford Street. We deliver a range of English language courses to European and overseas students.
We offer a teaching experience programme for CELTA / TESOL / ESOL teachers - newly qualified, soon to qualify, as well as qualified teachers wishing to return to teaching looking to gain valuable experience in this competitive industry. This is a Voluntary, unpaid position since we offer these classes to our students completely FREE OF CHARGE; however, we believe it to be an invaluable opportunity for teachers for a variety of reasons.
Previous participants have gone on to secure teaching roles within our school or other reputable schools, using the experience and reference as a valuable tool. We also offer our Voluntary teachers the chance to attend our regular CPD (Continual Professional Development) sessions which provide excellent training on all aspects of teaching English as a foreign language. Teachers are also encouraged to do peer observations of other teachers, and we are always happy to provide a reference should you choose to move on.
Our Voluntary teachers are in charge of teaching lessons from Monday to Friday from 12.30 - 13.30, 14.40 - 15.40 and 15.45pm - 16.45pm, which makes a total of 15 classes per week. We do not expect any one teacher to take all these lessons, the expectation is around 3 a week - on which day/s of the week depends on each teacher's personal commitments.
If you are interested in this unique opportunity, please reply to this ad by sending us your CV and writing a short cover letter in support of your application.
We look forward to hearing from you.
