Teachers are needed for immediate start, as well as forward planning. Interviews and positions will be offered on a first-come, first-given basis.
Details of Position
Responsible to: Director of Studies, or in absence the Principal
Hours of work: The overall teaching timetable runs from 09.00-18:00, Monday-Friday,
but personal timetables for individual full-time teachers vary between these hours. You
are required to arrive at the College at least 15 minutes before your scheduled
timetable begins and to observe specified lesson times in order to maintain the smooth
running of classes, especially at class changeovers.
Fixed-term contracts: The normal maximum contact time for a full-time teacher is
30 lessons a week. Teachers are not required to remain at the College during any non-
teaching periods that may occur within their teaching timetable, except where they are
required to provide contingency cover for staff unexpectedly absent, or are scheduled
to attend staff meetings.
Main duties: For General English teaching, most if not all the teachers contact time is
spent with students on the following courses:
(full-day) 14:00-18.00 (afternoon intensive)
09.00-13.00 (morning intensive)
Other special courses run concurrently with the General English courses, and teachers
with relevant training or experience may be assigned a mix of work including
Business English, English for Tourism, and so on.
Other duties: (these are specified in detail in the Teachers Guide)
Registers and Record-keeping: Teachers must maintain accurate records of
attendance and work.
Planning, preparation, marking, checking: You must liaise with other teachers, plan
and prepare lessons, and submit work plans in advance to the DoS. Homework must be
set and corrected. Classes must be given a progress test every week by designated
teachers, and every two weeks students must be counselled on an individual basis, with
results recorded on the Students Record Card.

Teachers meetings and staff development: You are required to attend fortnightly
Teacher Development (TD) meetings and weekly teachers meetings
Social programme: You should be prepared to take part in the Social Programme
(there are extra payments for this).
