The British Council has Teaching Centres in Rabat and Casablanca and delivers General English to a mainly Young Learner (YL) market unlike most of the local competition.
In Rabat, YL teaching is delivered in an off-site school in the suburb of Soussi and teaching for adults and corporates in shared space on 4th floor of the building in the Centre Ville where we have our back office. Casablanca operates out of its own dedicated space in the suburb of Polo. The Rabat and Casablanca centres have very similar volumes (12000 to 13000 class hours) and approx. 1500 SS per term, 900/1000 YLs in each Centre - 3 terms currently and 2/3 Summer Schools.
The teaching teams (approx 25 teachers per Centre) are an interesting mix of nationalities and experience. Each Centre is supported by a DTCM, 2 Senior Teachers (Adults/Corporate and Young Learners), a Registrar and CS lead and TC operations officer.
You should be a high proficiency speaker of English and have a first degree or equivalent, a CELTA/ Trinity Certificate in TESOL (or equivalent) and two years post certificate teaching experience, and a recognised diploma level qualification in EFL, e.g., Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Dip Tesol. Ideally you would also hold a YL teaching qualification, e.g., Cambridge YL Extension or TYLEC. Clear, documented teaching experience of a wide ranging of teaching including adults and YLs is necessary.
(Teaching) 2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience (or other certificate level qualification that meets the requirements set out at http://www.britishcouncil.org/accreditation-teachers-qualifications-guidance.htm)
Experience in teaching relevant age groups:
Young learners aged 6 to 10 (400+ hours)
Young learners aged 11 to 13 (400+ hours)
Young learners aged 14 to 17 (400+ hours)
Adults General English 18+ (400+ hours)
(Training) Experience of delivering training, including training sessions/workshops and mentoring/support programmes over an extended period.
First Degree or equivalent
Cambridge Delta, Trinity DipTESOL
Full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8 in each of 4 sections of the academic module. Up-to-date proof of language proficiency will be requested as part of the applications process.
Experience of line managing diverse groups.
PGCE/B.Ed in Primary or relevant subject
YL Extension to CELTA
