Job Summary

The main role of the Social Activity Leader is to engage with the students and, in turn, make sure that the students engage with all aspects of the programme - classes, activities and excursions. This means communicating, interacting, and generally being alongside the students and making sure they are safe, happy, involved and having fun.

Details of Position

The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Attending a compulsory two-day training on the 2nd and 3rd of July 2018
Meeting groups and students at the local arrival airports (Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham)
Greeting students as they arrive at the residence, giving them a tour, helping them with luggage, making them feel welcome and inducting them into the accommodation
Supervising all meal times and free time in the residence
Preparing, leading and actively participating in sports activities (e.g. swimming, football, basketball, hockey etc.)
Preparing leading and actively participating in evening activities (e.g. games night, welcome party, disco, arts and crafts etc.)
Preparing for and leading half-day excursions to local attractions such as Conwy Castle, Zip World, Surf Snowdonia, Bounce Below etc.)
Preparing for and leading full-day excursions to other places in North Wales and England (e.g. day trips to Liverpool, Snowdonia N.P., Manchester)
Undertaking pastoral care duties which support our international students including being aware of what constitutes a problem and reporting it if required (e.g. students dealing with homesickness, having trouble communicating, etc.)
Responding to disciplinary issues with students
Effectively liaising between other members of staff including teachers, group leaders, the Senior Activity Leader and the Centre Manager.
Engaging students in conversation to encourage them to practise their English outside of the classroom
Being aware of accident and emergency procedures, safeguarding procedures and reading the staff handbook
