Job Summary

Are you an enthusiastic, flexible, can-do person? We are looking for motivated, reliable and qualified team members for New College Groups Summer School in York and Manchester
We have positions available for teachers and activity leaders.
We are currently recruiting for the following centre:
York (Queen Ethelburga's School) 1-29 July (11-17 age range) Teachers
Manchester (Salford University) 1 July - 12 August (12-17 age range) Teachers and Activity Leaders

Details of Position

You will plan and prepare high quality lessons based on NCG materials, and assist the Director of Studies in testing students on arrival. You will also undertake some residential/supervisory duties. Full time teachers who teach fewer than 30 hours will also be required to participate in the activity programme.

Activity Leaders
The social programme is an integral part of the Summer School experience and should be interesting, fun and stimulating for the students. You will plan, prepare, participate in and lead excursions as well as sports, drama, arts and crafts activities and evening events. As this is a residential post you will also be required to undertake pastoral duties.

New College Group is accredited by the British Council and ISI.

New College Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and all staff are expected to share this commitment. Therefore, all references will be followed up, gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily and appropriate suitability checks will be required prior to appointment. A DBS check will be requested in the event of a successful application, 50% of the cost being borne by NCG.
All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.


university degree
CELTA qualified (or equivalent)
min 1 year's experience
good classroom management
experience of working with teenagers
previous Summer School experience an advantage

Activity Leaders
no formal qualifications required
experience working with children/teenagers
first aid certificate desirable
ability to lead sessions in sport, drama, dance, arts and crafts
native level competency in English

Salary and Benefits

Teacher £400 per week + 12.07% holiday pay to be paid at end of contract. Positions are residential (board and shared ensuite accommodation provided) at York, non residential at Manchester.

Activity Leader
£310 per week +12.07% holiday pay to be paid at end of contract. Positions are residential (single ensuite accommodation and board provided, for which a weekly deduction of £31.50 will be made).
