Job Summary

The ADOSs key responsibility is to assist the DOS with the smooth running and successful delivery of all aspects of the academic programme on centre. The ADOS will provide ongoing support for EFL teachers in the preparation, co-ordination and teaching of English as part of the academic programme. ADOSs report directly to the DOS and work closely with them to assist in the student testing, timetabling, progress monitoring and administration of EFL classes.

Location:16 centres across the UK.
Managing: EFL Teachers, GLs & International students.
Hours:
Up to 48 hours per week.
Evening and weekend work required.
Some weeks you may be required to work in excess of 48 hours. You will therefore be asked to 'opt out of the 48-hour Working Time Directive.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Ardmore requirements for all employees:
Eligible to live and work in the UK and 18 or over.
Have a suitable police check/ enhanced DBS (Ardmore can assist with this).
High level of professional conduct and smart appearance.
Commitment to safeguarding students at all times.

Excellent communication skills and proficient in English language.
Role Specific Specification
Essential:
First Degree and CELTA or Trinity TESOL, or PGCE, or other *
Min of two years teaching EFL.
Ability to lead and manage an academic team.
Clear communicator with a natural ability to explain different aspects of English language.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task under pressure.
Ability to motivate and enjoy working with large groups of children/teenagers.
*Other TEFL qualifications (validated by an external body to include a minimum of six hours observed teaching practice) and considerable experience in the field of EFL teaching will be reviewed and considered.
Desirable:
DELTA or Dip TESOL.
Proven leadership skills.
Hold a valid First Aid Certificate.
Experience of observation of teachers (with feedback).
Experience of testing and placement of students.
Experience of managing teams in summer school environment.
Job Tasks:
Teaching and Academic
Teach up to 15 hours a week and lead Conversation Club (whenever required), prepare lessons (2 hours a week), attend CPD sessions (1-2 hours a week) and help with recreational activities and excursions (8 hours a week). Teach exam preparation courses where required.
Assist the DOS with student testing, placement and inducting and training new EFL teachers.
Teach English to a high standard following the syllabus set out in the Ardmore Language Schools workbooks and academic programme.
Prepare and deliver lessons with the aim of achieving the objectives and outcomes of the Ardmore Language Schools syllabus.
Use teaching techniques that are appropriate to the level and needs of the students making every effort to create a positive learning environment enabling students to participate purposefully in the lessons.
Make lessons stimulating and enjoyable with particular emphasis on the practical use of the English language (e.g. speaking and listening skills)
Administer and mark course assessments tasks as well as marking Placement and Exit Tests.
Maintain excellent class administration including lesson preparation, class registration and monitoring student progress and ensure that this is submitted each week.
Ensure that, in the lesson prior to an excursion, students are prepared and informed about their forthcoming excursion.
Support the DOS administratively in all areas of the academic programme, as requested.

Student Welfare
Check class registers on a daily basis to ensure against student absenteeism.
Work closely with the management team to respond to, monitor and report and issues or concerns raised by staff, students or otherwise.
Monitor teaching staff levels to ensure that the appropriate staffing levels are maintained and inform the CD or DOS of any concerns.
Complete individual student Progress Reports where necessary and final certificates.
Carry out residential duties on a rota basis, including meal supervision, lights out duties, room checks and additional duties as required.
Maintain proper levels of student behaviour, safety and welfare and respond to emergencies at all times.

Qualifications

Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL and First Degree.
