Mackenzie School of English is now recruiting a Director of Studies to join our residential management team in July.

Details of Position

Based in Edinburgh and British Council accredited, we run a successful year-round school and a well-established residential summer centre at Merchiston Castle. This year, Merchiston Castle is once again home to our all-inclusive four week summer residential programme for 12-17 year olds. A highly prestigious boarding school based in 100 acres of beautiful parkland, the extensive campus is only a couple of miles from the city centre and is also the location of the ruins of 13th Century Colinton Castle.
Working on our residential programme, you will ensure our academic programme is delivered to a high standard, manage the teaching team, teach when necessary and carry out all testing and administrative duties as required at the center. You will be expected to work 6 days a week, and will receive full training and support from the Centre Manager and the Director of Studies at our main school in Leith. Teachers at the centre are expected to prepare and teach 15 hours weekly of high-quality, engaging and fun Task-Based Learning lessons to Young Learners as part of the academic programme, along with taking an active role in the activity programme and with pastoral care.

Successful candidates must be available to attend induction and training and will be expected to live on-site from the morning of 1st July 2018.

Degree Required
Preferred qualifications:
Cambridge DELTA,Cambridge DELTA,Cambridge DELTA Distance,Trinity DipTESOL
Native level English speaker preferred

Essential Criteria:
Experience working with young people.
Experience of working in a similar role.
A first degree.
DELTA/Trinity Dip TESOL qualification.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
English proficiency.
Responsible approach to working with juniors.
Experience with summer schools.
Teacher training.
Local knowledge.
Flexibility of working hours.
Ability to cope under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent time management.
Flexibility of working hours.
DELTM or other ELT Management qualification.
Level 1 Safeguarding.

Salary and Benefits

All residential positions include free board and accommodation. Employees also receive full role specific comprehensive induction and ongoing continuous professional development.
Attractive salary, £480, based on qualifications and experience, plus statutory holiday pay.
