Job Summary

Uptown English is looking for a new teacher to join our team of teachers until the end of the 2017-18 academic year. The job includes a mix of Infant (3 to 5 year old) students, primary school students, teenagers', adults' and official Cambridge English exam preparation classes. Details of Position

Uptown English is a small school in Horta, Barcelona, a quiet neighbourhood just outside of the city centre which is very well connected by metro and bus lines.
The job is initially for maternity cover for an experienced and popular teacher, covering 19 hours a week from the end of January/ start of February until the end of the academic year in June. There is also the possibility of summer work/ a contract extension for the following academic year 2018/19.
The timetable would include a range of classes including one to one classes, classes with 3-5 year olds, primary age, teenagers, adults and official Cambridge English exam preparation classes (FCE).
The school has a friendly welcoming atmosphere which comes from working in a small, enthusiastic team of excellent teachers. Teachers are provided detailed course guides and overviews to help them with lesson planning. Teachers also have experienced mentors to help with lesson planning, classroom management and the teacher's professional development as well as ensuring that lessons are fun, dynamic and engaging for students.
All classrooms in the academy have versatile interactive whiteboards, high speed fibre optic internet connection and all teachers have access to our bank of materials as well as subscriptions to websites which can be used for resource and game creation.


- EU nationals or non-EU nationals with legal right to work in Spain
- Teachers with native level competence and pronunciation
- CELTA or equivalent
- Knowledge of Spanish/ Catalan a big advantage.
- 2 years previous teaching experience including experience working with young learners.

Salary and Benefits

1220 euros a month before tax for 19 hours a week. Extra salary can be earned by doing additional hours.
Extra work could be available in the summer as well as the 2018-19 academic year.

Help with registering to legally work in Spain/ sign up for Spanish medical care.
The position also includes being mentored by an experienced teacher, working on lesson planning, learning about fun, dynamic activities and games which can be used to enrich the classes and aiding teachers' professional development.
