Job Summary

Our dynamically growing English Language School is now looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team and take overall responsibility for the daily operations of our busy school.

Details of Position

The purpose of role is to be responsible for the daily operation of the School and the Junior Summer School, undertaking a range of responsibilities, and to act as a deputy to the Executive Director in their absence.
1. Person specification
First degree
CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent
Safeguarding qualification (desirable)
Skills and Experience
Minimum 5 years experience in EFL, preferably in a variety of teaching and admin role
Experience of working in a British Council accredited, quality language school (desirable)
Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of teachers and admin staff
Knowledge of the EFL industry
Ability to maintain clear channels of communication between management and staff
Excellent time management skills, and the ability to work under pressure
Excellent IT skills, with an understanding of cloud-based technologies and online content management
Understanding of the production of marketing materials
Working knowledge of the Adobe CC package or similar design solutions (desirable)
2. Role, Duties and Responsibilities
Management Roles
Attend, actively contribute to and minute management meetings;
Ensure timely implementation and communication of management decisions, updates and changes made in management meetings to the team of teachers and activity leaders
Oversee the recruitment of new staff as required
Act as a point of contact with the British Council, English UK, and further accreditation bodies
Oversee the operation of the seasonal Junior Summer School
Welfare and Customer Service
Ensure that all students receive full induction in conjunction with other members of staff
Be approachable for students who seek further guidance
Monitor student feedback and act upon emerging complaints
Ensure that complaints are dealt with as soon as possible, ensuring customer satisfaction
Responsible for the health, safety, welfare and duty of care of all students and staff
Administrative and Financial Duties
Audit staff paperwork on a regular basis, and follow up on any missing records
Prepare weekly statistics using the existing business information systems
Monitor budgets and financial transactions on a weekly basis
Ensure that the Schools operation is fully compliant with the requirements set by external accreditation bodies and the Schools Quality Assurance Framework
Act as point of contact and keep external accreditation bodies informed as appropriate
Line management
Oversee all staff recruitment, ensuring that the safe recruitment policy is implemented
Balance permanent and temporary teaching staff to meet changing needs
Ensure new staff receive full induction
Act as line manager of the Admin Manager, Academic Manager, and Student Services Officer
Conduct yearly appraisal for staff
Contribute to all marketing activities
Act as a point of contact for existing agents
Be able to fulfil emerging cover or scheduled teaching duties
Regularly update school policies, and ensure they are implemented, with special attention to the Safeguarding Policy and Health and Safety regulations

Salary and Benefits

Contract: Full time (37.5 hours per week)
Term: Open
Holiday allowance: 20 days per annum plus bank holidays
Salary: £25,000 per annum plus pension contribution
