Job Summary

Fettes Centre for Language and Culture (FCLC Edinburgh) requires multiple summer school teachers to work for up to 6 weeks on our innovative and exciting British Council-accredited programme from 1 July to 11 August 2018. FCLC is based within the unique grounds of Fettes College, just one mile from the historic and cultural city centre of Edinburgh.

Details of Position

Fettes College's own residential summer school, Fettes Centre for Language and Culture (FCLC Edinburgh) has had 11 successful years of operation and is accredited by the British Council. Fettes College is situated in 90 acres of private grounds just 10 minutes from Edinburgh's historic city centre. We are recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated staff to work in July and August 2018. We pride ourselves on offering a superb team environment for all staff with excellent terms and benefits.
In summer 2018, students will attend our programme from 1 July to 11 August. We operate two junior courses, one for 10-13 year olds and one for 14-17 year olds. Classes are multi-national, have an average of 12 students and cater for all levels from A1 to C1. The focus will be on creating maximum opportunities for students to use the English that they learned before coming to FCLC and to build on this knowledge while they are here. This will be achieved by the students working on tasks in the classroom and on excursions structured around a selection of weekly themes.
Teachers on our junior programme are responsible for delivering stimulating and challenging lessons whilst following our in house syllabus and guidelines. Teachers will work 17.5 contact hours in class plus 10.5 hours working on projects and class excursions as well as 7 hours preparation/admin (total 35 hours) per week.
Teachers will attend the induction days on Friday and Saturday, 29 & 30 June 2018.

All references will be checked and will include a specific enquiry as to whether there is any impediment to the applicant being employed in a situation where they will have responsibility for, substantial access to, and care of young people aged under 18.
