It has a beautiful feel, like silk, and really is waterproof as it proved when it protected us in a sudden downpoor while the rest of our group got soaked. The map is beautifully clear and accurate. Loads of walking routes, from the 34 Alpujarras Walks guide book, are highlighted along with GPS Waypoints for thos routes; very useful for some of the mountain routes like Cabello. At the end of a weeks continuous hiking the map was still like new despite its soaking and frequent folding. Why aren\'t all maps made of this amazing material. There are many British residents living on the Spanish Costas, most of whom cannot speak Spanish and are totally unaware of the Spanish laws regarding car documentation, traffic, road signs etc. There are plenty of books available on living in Spain, most of which cover property issues, taxation, health care. This is the first book I have had the luck to find which is a fully comprehensive and easy to follow guide relating specifically to motoring issues and also includes a very useful section relating to the current road traffic signs. The various sections in the book which give Spanish/English translations are particularly useful and practical, even for a visit to the local garage for general car servicing. Ross Useful This handbook provides a good descriptive overview over a wide range of topics relevant to modern Spain. These include, amongst others, political institutions, regionalism, the economy, the environment and education. It thus equips the student with useful background knowledge and forms the basis upon which further detailed studies may proceed.
