    Native English Language Teacher
    Olive Tree English
    Location Montilla, Cordoba, Spain, Spain
    Deadline Friday 12. September 2014
    Experience 1 year
    Details
Olive Tree English is a British-Spanish, family run business. Due to increasing numbers and demand, we are looking for a third teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate should be outgoing and flexible. Our classes range from 5 year olds through to adults. We have an ever increasing interest in Cambridge exams levels A2-C1/C2 so experience with these exams would be a great advantage.

Our school is bright and modern, with wifi throughout and plenty of teaching material. We have one classroom large enough for 10 students and two smaller rooms for around 8 students. We try to keep the groups small and students are placed in classes that correspond to their level where posible.

Montilla is a typically Andausian, wine-producing town with a population of approx. 25,000. It is well situated and Seville, Granada and Malaga are all easily reached by car or bus. Regular buses leave the town for Cordoba and the coast making it quite accessible for weekend getaways.

As far as day to day living in the town is concerned, you could expect to pay around 1 for a small beer, 1.15 for a coffee, 1 for a glass of the local wine and a meal out is about 12. Tapas is naturally a popular choice and the prices are very reasonable.

We have found a fully furnished flat for the position. It is located just off the main square and would be shared with the other teachers. The monthly rent including water is 400 (to be shared between 3). Photos of the flat may be provided upon request. It is not absolutely necessary to share however and we would be more than happy to help find something else.

Finally and again, this is just our personal preference, we like teachers to come into the school and prepare their lessons there. This helps us keep track of all the classes and deal with queries and problems as they arise. The flat is within a very short walking distance.
Weekly meetings will be held, at least initially, as will class observations and we are always present at school so teachers are not required to deal with parents, new students signing up etc.

  • Do not provide any banking or credit card information when applying for a job.
  • If you are concerned about divulging your home address in your resume, consider using a post office box or similar forwarding address.
  • When attending a job interview, if you feel in any way uncomfortable with the situation or the person/s you are dealing with, walk away. Also consider your work location, do you feel it is safe? Would you be happy to work there late at night?
  • Always let a friend know that you are attending an interview, when and where. acquaint yourself fully with how to get to the interview and how to get back.
