    Red Leaf is seeking native English teachers and group leaders for a 7 weeks camp taking place in A Pueyo de Jaca (Huesca) and Mazarete (Guadalajara) both in Spain from the 25th of September to the 15th of November 2014.

    Job Description for teachers:
    • Contract: We have 8 positions starting September 25th and ending November15th.
    To teach English in different settings such as science classes and daily workshops focused on a specific skill or interest. Materials and guidelines are provided, but we strongly recommend to prepare/bring your own teaching materials to the camp.
    • To participate in other camp running activities such as students wake-up, mealtimes, shower times, breaks and night guards on a rota basis. Also to participate in evening activities.
    • To accompany students on excursions.
    • To attend daily meetings at the camp with camp staff and the director of the camp.
    • To speak in English with the campers at all times to facilitate their learning and allow language immersion – a dedication to their learning and their camp experience.
    • To display an appropriate behaviour at all times as role models (including a commitment not to smoke, drink alcohol or use illegal substances within or under the influence of while in the camp)
    • To undertake responsibly any other activities that the director of the camp might trust you with.

    Job descrption for group leaders:
    Contract: We have 8 positions available starting September 25th and ending November15th.
    - Developing detailed activities and workshops, preparing and leading daily workshops/activities (according to your position) focused on a specific skill or interest and presented using cultural themes
    - Attendance of a two-day preparation and training period, most probably in Madrid
    - Assuming a leadership role in the camp session participating in camp running activities such as students wake-up, mealtimes, shower times, breaks and night guards on a rota basis.
    - To display appropriate behaviour in front of the campers as representatives of Red Leaf and as role models (including a commitment not to smoke, drink alcohol or use illegal substances within or under the influence of while in the camp environment)
    - Attendance of daily meetings at the camp with camp staff.

    Qualifications
    Person Specification for teachers:

    Essential
    • Studying towards a University degree or equivalent
    • TEFL and relevant working experience as teacher of English or other modern language.
    • Some teaching or working experience with children (on paid or voluntary basis)
    • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
    • Basic IT skills
    • Being an EU citizen – English native speaker
    • Energy, initiative and a positive attitude
    • CRB checked

    Desirable
    • Educated to degree level
    • Experience in summer camps
    • Ability to speak Spanish, although you may NOT use your Spanish to communicate with the campers
    • Presentation and performance skills with large groups
    • Having Spanish paperwork ready to work in Spain
    (Note: if you don’t have it you will be required to come early in order to get it)

    Person Specification for group leaders:
     Energy, initiative and a positive attitude
     At least two years of university or college
     A desire to share their language and culture
     Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
     A variety of general applicable skills and interests
     A love for young people (ages 6-17)
     Experience with young people
     Presentation and performance skills with large groups
     Experience in camp situations
     A specific, well-developed interest (e.g.: dance, theatre, crafts, …) that can be used in a workshop setting
     experience in positions of leadership
     a basic knowledge of the Spanish language (although under normal circumstances, you will NOT use your Spanish to communicate with the campers)

    Compensation
    Teachers:
    • Salary: 1200 (gross)/month. This amount includes a small travel allowance to help towards your trip to Spain.
    • Social security: You will be registered in the Spanish Social Security. As stated by law, Red Leaf will pay 40% on top of your salary to the Social Security.
    • Accommodation for the day training and preparation period before camp (does not include food); shared accommodation in the camp during the camp sessions and mid-camp preparation days (should the camp schedule allow).
    • Travel costs from Madrid to the camp at the beginning of the camp session.
    • Food: breakfast, lunch, dinner and a mid-day snack each day of camp.

    Group leaders:
    • Salary: 1.000€ (gross)/month This amount includes a small travel allowance to help towards your trip to Spain.
    • Social security: You will be registered in the Spanish Social Security. As stated by law, Red Leaf will pay 40% on top of your salary to the Social Security.
    • Accommodation for the day training and preparation period before camp (does not include food); shared accommodation in the camp during the camp sessions and mid-camp preparation days (should the camp schedule allow).

    Going abroad...
  • Get travel insurance and check that the cover is appropriate.
  • Check what vaccinations you need at least 6 weeks before you go and consider whether you need to take extra health precautions
  • Ensure you have a valid passport that is in good condition and the necessary visas.
  • Make copies of your passport (including any visa pages), insurance policy plus 24-hour emergency number, and ticket details. Leave these copies, your itinerary and contact details with family and friends.
  • Take enough money for your trip and some back-up funds eg travellers cheques, sterling or US dollars.
