THIS IS A JOB OFFER FOR YOU!

PLACE: a cosy, professional family-run language school in the centre of the town with extraordinary atmosphere and fantastic people working there (6-8 polish teachers, 1 native speaker). We have been operating on the market for 14 years, so the school is already well-established with high teaching standards. The majority of classes are run on the premises of our school. We love teaching English and we do it in the most communicative as well as interesting way. As it is an evening school, our students are highly motivated and eager to learn. We help them by running classes in small groups of 5-8 students.
Almost all classes are in the afternoon, so you will be busy from 3 pm till 9 pm.

THE COST OF LIVING IN RADOM: a meal in the restaurant-12-25PLN (15PLN- delicious lunches of the day near school) PLN, a beer- 6 PLN, a coke –6 zl per 2 litres, a night in a hotel in Cracow 200 PLN and upwards, bread- 2 PLN and above, a bar of chocolate- 3 PLN, shopping for food per 1 person- approx. 200 PLN weekly.

Radom is one of the cheapest towns to live in Poland, due to high unemployment rate. On the other hand, it is pleasant to live in away from the city rush. Still it’s 100 km away from Warsaw, 200 km from Kraków. It’s a very good place to explore Poland and experience a real Polish way of life.

WORKLOAD: approx. 21 teaching hours weekly (45 min. each), a mix of ages including several children groups (the youngest kids are 8-10 years old). Besides, a few teenage groups, various levels/various course types, including individual classes.

Breaks during the contract: Christmas break, 2 weeks of winterbreak, Easter break, a few bank holidays throughout the year.

    DUTIES:
Planning, conducting and recording motivating conversation classes for a variety of our students, from children, teenagers up to corporate clients. Different levels but 5-8 students in one group mostly.

    1. As each course is shared by a Polish teacher and a native speaker, communication between them is a must.
    2. Adequate preparation for classes and adjusting them to students needs. The classes should be motivating and effective for students. 3. The classes are periodically observed by DOS, so being flexible enough to implement any amendments in teaching is important. Each course has got a syllabus to cover during each term, so sticking to it is important as well. But we look forward to complementing the syllabus from outside the coursebook resources. We encourage creativity in planning lessons.
    4. Because our Polish teachers organize a stage performance at the end of the school year with some of our teenage and children groups, a speaker’s contribution to it will be invaluable!!!
    5. Filling in school papers (lesson record, homework record, monthly group record, student reports after each term etc.)
    6. Assessing students throughout the course, conducting tests, discussing groups’ progress/problems-together with the other teacher
    7. Being available for students for one hour outside the contract
    8. Cooperation with Polish teachers, DOS.

    Qualifications
EU citizenship preferred, at least some experience and any formal qualifications in teaching English as a foreign language. Experience in teaching kids/teenagers will definitely be an asset. Still, we can offer plenty of guidance and help for those less experienced. The most important thing is an outgoing and extrovert as well as life-loving and people-loving personality with some interesting way of life to share with our students. As the teacher we are looking for is to run conversation classes, so the more topics you have, the better! Commitment to live in Poland and get to know life here is as well required.
Other personal features: flexibility, a desire to practice teaching skills, reliability.

EU national preferred EU national preferred

    4. performance bonus by the end of the contract
    5. excellent work environment and teaching tools (plenty of teaching aids apart from coursebooks, interactive whiteboards, internet access at school etc.)
    6. training, guidance and supportive atmosphere

If you are interested in the offer, email us a scan of your TEFL/other teaching diploma, references from your previous employers, passport scan, CV highlighting your teaching experience.
