    Details
    The Director of Studies is responsible for the staffing and successful operation of all SUL courses. The role also requires the creation of all syllabus and induction materials.

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:-

    GENERAL
    • To act as brand ambassador to all offsite staff visited.
    • To always act in a manner consistent with all SUL published policies including the SUL Child Protection / Safeguarding Children policy.
    • To manage SUL courses to ensure compliance with the law, accreditation requirements and current best practice.
    • To create systems and support staff in such a way as to maintain the quality of SUL processes and courses in line with accreditation requirements.

    ACADEMIC MANAGEMENT

    • Managing all aspects of teacher & senior staff recruitment and management to ensure compliance with the law, accreditation requirements and current best practice.

    • Overseeing the work of the Teacher Recruitment Officer and to cover this position when s/he is absent, including a review/refresh the interview questions in consultation with the Recruitment Officer.

    • Ensuring all materials & processes are appropriate, up-to-date and in line with current best practice (CEF ALTE, ABLS, BC, AFNOR, etc) as well as being appropriate for our clients’ needs.

    • Ensuring SUL has syllabuses that are appropriate, up-to-date and in line with current best practice as well as being appropriate for our clients’ needs for all areas of our business (currently but not exclusively Teens, Juniors, 1 to 4/5, 1 to 1, Cultural tours). To also include writing a new junior test.

    • Creation and updating of manuals and induction processes for all SUL courses, including a new ‘Teacher Guide’ manual with lots of examples of activities/techniques for guiding both adult groups and primary groups. Also 4:1 and 5:1manuals and syllabus/guide for teachers.

    • Ensuring the highest standards of delivery of all our EFL courses including dealing with all operational problems during these courses in co-operation with the Residential Operations Manager and the Homestay & Home Tuition Manager.

    • Dealing with clients’ problems when required, acting to minimise client problems and maximise the reputation of SUL as a flexible and pro-active company with which to work.

    • Ensuring compliance with accreditation and preparing for all future inspections (whether AFNOR, ABLS or BC).

    • Having overall operational control of all SUL international courses and responsibility for their operational success.

    • Managing quality control systems.

    • Contributing to strategic planning and development of the company as required by suggesting new concepts for courses and products.

    OTHER AREAS OF THE BUSINESS

    • Working with the Directors to enable SUL to successfully respond to changing market demands.

    • Contributing to the development of business plans and strategies with the Directors to expand the customer base maximise income and improve profitability of the company.

    • Motivating and leading SUL staff members; monitoring, assessing and implementing new strategies for team performance.

    • You may be asked to address customer or employee issues in line with customer policy and good practice.

    • Attending various sales meetings, trade shows, workshops in the UK and abroad, as well as visiting individual agencies in this country and abroad as required .

    • Contributing to the IT development of the company, including the continuing evolution of the FMPro data base for SUL office staff and the use of the SUL website for marketing, sales, teachers & other course staff, host families, host family Local Organisers.

    • Showing a commitment to continuous improvement, helping to develop the organisational capability of SUL to respond to changing market conditions.

    Qualifications
    Applicants MUST be DELTA qualified to meet accreditation requirements.

    Salary band from £24k + per year depending on experience
