    "I would like some advice on the best way to apply for tefl jobs. I have been travelling for the last 6 monyh=ths and for the last two months I have been teaching English as a volunteer in Honduras. I have completed a total of 80hours tefl training but I do not have a degree. I am returning to the UK in June and am looking for jobs.     Wall Street English Bergamo School Description:
    We are a well-established language school, part of the globally-renowned Wall Street English, and a Trinity, TOEIC and TOLES exam centre. We are running an intensive English course from October 2014 - January 2015 (with a two week break over Christmas) which will incorporate both the Wall Street multimedia method and teacher-managed GE and ESP (English for Nursing) lessons, for Chinese adults of all levels. Modern classrooms, plentiful resources, friendly school atmosphere, and a great didactic and administrative team. Regular staff meetings and initial training.

    Job Description:
    6 Full-time EFL teachers needed – approx. 20-25 contact hours per week. GE and ESP (English for Nursing) teaching in-school to classes of 25 Chinese adults. 4 days a week, Monday-Thursday. Classes run from 9.00-13.00 and 14.00-18.00. (Friday - half day for meeting and preparation).

    Darfo Boario Terme (Brescia, Lombardy)
    A small, quiet, picturesque town at the foot of the Alps, North of Lake Iseo. Located about 50 kms from both Brescia (easily accessible by train) and Bergamo, (accessible by bus). A 20 minute drive to many ski resorts. Perfect for those who love skiing, walking in the mountains, hiking, horse-riding, swimming, and nature in general.

    Teacher Profile:
    Professional, reliable, organized, conscientious, adaptable and able to work as part of a team. Although the atmosphere will be fairly informal all teachers need to maintain a high professional standard. Training is given at the start of the contract with observations thereafter.

    UK/Ireland national or dual Italian citizenship
    Degree in any discipline (Medical background preferable, but not necessary)
    Celta or equivalent
    Minimum of two years’experience
    Experience with teaching adults and ESP (Medical English) an advantage
    Can work as part of a team and professional approach
    Knowledge of Italian not necessary
    EU driving license essential

    The contract is from October to January. Teachers would be expected to arrive at the end of September for orientation and training. Help provided finding accomodation. Salary - €1,200 -€1,300 per month.

  • Get travel insurance and check that the cover is appropriate.
  • Check what vaccinations you need at least 6 weeks before you go and consider whether you need to take extra health precautions
  • Ensure you have a valid passport that is in good condition and the necessary visas.
  • Make copies of your passport (including any visa pages), insurance policy plus 24-hour emergency number, and ticket details. Leave these copies, your itinerary and contact details with family and friends.
  • Take enough money for your trip and some back-up funds eg travellers cheques, sterling or US dollars.
