|Residential Summer School EFL Teachers
Thames Valley Summer Schools
||Kent, Surrey, Warwickshire & Northamptonshire, United Kingdom|
||Tuesday 01. July 2014|
|Do you hold a British Council recognised ELT qualification and a Degree? Would you like to work for an established residential summer school, based at some of the UK's top independent schools and accredited by the British Council?|
For the past 40 years, we've been helping young people from all over the world to improve their command of English. During this time, over 55,000 students have spent the summer with us and, in the process, have enjoyed a complete English experience.
We take enormous care in choosing our centres. Only prestigious boarding schools are considered and we look at everything they have to offer - from their location through to their range of facilities.
We are now recruiting enthusiastic and motivated EFL Teachers, wishing to work in a professional environment on our British Council accredited summer courses.
You'll get lots of support - a full briefing prior to the start of the course, a Director of Studies and a Senior Teacher who'll give you lots of hints and tips and observe you giving both written and oral feedback, and access to a wide range of EFL resources.
Most importantly, a team of EFL experts have designed a teaching syllabus to reduce your planning and preparation, so you can enjoy your free time.
All residential staff receive free full-board accommodation.
Thames Valley Summer Schools is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. As part of our commitment:
All references will be followed up
Referees will be asked specifically if there is any reason why you should not be allowed to work with under 18-year olds
Any gaps in your employment history will need to be explained satisfactorily
Proof of identity and qualifications will be required and photocopies of the original certificate will be taken
All candidates are required to hold or undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS, formerly CRB) check and/or provide a Certificate of Good Conduct from their local police
Please note that due to a large number of applicants we are only able to contact successful candidates. All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK as we do not sponsor work permit visa applications. Thank you for your understanding.
|All EFL Teachers must possess the following:|
- British Council recognised EFL teaching qualification, eg. Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert.TESOL or equivalent
- a University Degree
- a native speaker level of English
We welcome applicants with a PGCE in English/MFL with an ELT/TESOL subsidiary.
- applicants with specialist Young Learner qualifications
- previous residential experience, especially with children
For one of our courses we would particularly welcome applications from teachers who also speak Japanese
Although experience is preferred (we have an average 40% staff returning each summer), we welcome applications from newly qualified teachers.
If you are not an EU citizen, you must have a valid work permit for the UK.
EU national preferred
|From £345 - £410 per week plus between £41.81 and £49.69 per week statutory holiday pay, depending on your experience/ qualifications and the type of course.|
* holiday pay at 12.12%
* a comprehensive pre-course paid induction
* support from a Director of Studies, a Senior Teacher and the Director of Education
* access to extensive EFL resources
* free internet access
ALL RESIDENTIAL POSITIONS INCLUDE FREE FULL BOARD ACCOMMODATION.
In addition, for employees of Thames Valley Summer Schools who know of any friends or colleagues we offer a 'Thank you' of £100 for each friend or colleague introduced who we successfully employ!

There are several commonsense factors you should consider when applying
for a post, attending an interview or working abroad.
Do not provide any banking or credit card information when applying
for a job.
If you are concerned about divulging your home address in your resume,
consider using a post office box or similar forwarding address.
When attending a job interview, if you feel in any way uncomfortable
with the situation or the person/s you are dealing with, walk away. Also
consider your work location, do you feel it is safe? Would you be happy
to work there late at night?
Always let a friend know that you are attending an interview, when and
where. acquaint yourself fully with how to get to the interview and how
to get back.
An interview should always be arranged in daylight hours.
If the job appears to be "too good to be true", it probably is. Fully
research the employer via web forums, search engines and previous
employees. Most reputable employers should be happy to put you in touch
with previous/current staff.
As previously stated, no reputable employer will ask you for money
(even for a visa, work-permit etc.). If a tefl.com advertiser does ask
you for payment, refuse and contact us immediately.
As a TEFL.com member your resume contact details are not in the public
domain. Only registered employers can view your resume (contact details
removed) via our resume search engine. If an employer wishes to view
your contact details they are required to use a "ResumeView". Our system
logs all resumes viewed by the employer. You can also check as to which
employers have viewed your resume at
http://www.tefl.com/career/rv_history.html or by clicking on "Who's
viewed my resume" within your account page.
Register with your embassy as soon as you arrive in the host country.
Your safety is paramount. If you feel uneasy with any part of the
application procedure or interview, walk away!
Get travel insurance and check that the cover is appropriate.
Check what vaccinations you need at least 6 weeks before you go and consider whether you need to take extra health precautions
Ensure you have a valid passport that is in good condition and the necessary visas.
Make copies of your passport (including any visa pages), insurance policy plus 24-hour emergency number, and ticket details. Leave these copies, your itinerary and contact details with family and friends.
Take enough money for your trip and some back-up funds eg travellers cheques, sterling or US dollars.
