|Residential Summer School Teachers
Lines Languages Ltd
||Downe House, Cold Ash, Berkshire & Queenswood, Potters Bar, Herfordshire,, United Kingdom|
||Friday 25. April 2014|
|Working at LINES Languages is an exciting opportunity for experienced EFL teachers. As a 'learning school' we focus on teacher as well as student development.|
LINES is a residential summer school offering English language and activity programmes to an international mix of students aged 7-18. Our two sites are situated an hour from London in very comfortable boarding schools with state-of-the-art facilities.
Teachers are not expected to undertake evening or weekend pastoral duties.
LINES provides an exciting summer teaching and learning environment to experienced EFL teachers. Our team-teaching approach offers staff the opportunity to develop their own practice by learning from their colleagues. In addition to this, weekly professional development workshops are offered and the practice of alternative methodologies is encouraged.
The LINES experience is unique in that students receive
12 hours of General English per week taught using a communicative, student-centred approach
6 hours of Workshops which are delivered using a task-based approach, 6 hours of excursion preparation/tutorials which maximises teacher/student contact time in order to better know the students as individuals and their individual learning needs.
12 hours of focus workshops
Above all, LINES' teachers plan and deliver lessons of a high standard that adhere to the syllabi in place at LINES and share a commitment to the welfare of the students during school hours, both on campus and off campus.
At LINES teachers teach and are not expected to undertake any pastoral roles or weekend and evening duties.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, plus occasional Sunday evenings for placement testing. Meetings are usually held in the evenings, but not all are compulsory. Only applications from Native English speakers will be accepted.
In 2013 LINES reintroduced a new programme for 7-9 yr age group that offers an alternative programme to the rest of the school. This new programme, although academic, will support learning through a full leisure programme delivered entirely in English. Whereas the rest of the school have a balance of learning English to use it and using English to learn it, the KIDS will have a greater exposure to the English language in context and will therefore be mainly using English to learn it, based on the principles of second language acquisition
