Teaching in China
"I am going to be teaching in China at a university. I was wondering before I go, what Chinese students find most difficult about the English language. Is it listening and pronounciation? Rather than writing and reading?
It would just help me to know beforehand so I can prepare. Many thanks.

General English and ESP Teachers needed now in Tripoli, Libya. All expenses paid. Many positions. RecruitLibya
|
Location |
Tripoli, Libya, Libya | | Deadline |
-- |
|
Experience
| 1 year | | Positions | 30 | | Details | We are a British Recruitment COmpany working with many different partners in Libya. This is an exciting time in Libya with massive investment coming in unto now deprived education systems. People are crying out for English to enable them to work and study internationally, and to access the language of international trade and culture. We are working closely with our Libyan partners to bring courses to Government and non-government employees, including Doctors, Nurses, Soldiers, IT professionals, Service staff, to bring high quality teaching education to Libya. Tripoli is a secure and lively place, and all your needs will be met; accommodation will be vetted by the agency for suitability, and if it is not in a good enough or safe location, rejected. Furthermore we have a member of staff available in Tripoli itself ready to answer any questions you may have.
All expenses are paid, flights, Visa, accommodation and transport to and from work. It is easy to save money in Libya. These are generous terms which reflect the negative press which Libya has had. Libya, or Tripoli at least, is safe, however anyone there needs to remain cautious and sensible; Libya is confusing and contradictory, at once welcoming and open, and also conservative and traditional. Libyans are inquisitive, and will ask if you are married, and if you are Muslim; do not worry if you are not, but, do not travel late at night, do not go off with people you don't know, and if you must talk about religion, do so sensitively. Common sense and experience travelling will be tested at interview stage. If you have never been to an islamic country, then this is probably not the job for you. Women should bear in mind that while welcome by the vast majority of people, particularly your students who will all be eager to learn and embrace modernity, there will be occasions when you pass men in the street for whom the word modernity does not exist. Even Libyan women dressed conservatively are harassed, so, we advise women not to travel alone. Many of our students are women, a high degree of Pharmacists and Doctors are female in Libya, many will be on our courses, and they would love to meet a European woman, so please apply, but be realistic about the challenges, and experience in Islamic counties will go a long way at interview stage towards convincing us to put you forward for the job.
| | Qualifications | Due to the high demand for teachers, we are willing to accept applications from novice teachers, ie those with a teaching qualification, but no teaching experience. For teachers with 1 or more years experience, please see the pay scale below. We are also looking for teachers or trainers in particular areas, especially Management, Health, Customer Service, Banking, and IT. If you have training experience but no teaching qualifications we would love to hear from you, please write and tell us what your experience is.
| | Compensation | For a teacher with one or more years experience we are offering £1,750 a month. For a teacher with 2 or more, £2,000. For a newly qualified teacher, £1,500. For a trainer with a particular vocational skill, £2,000 per month.
All flights, visa, accommodation (shared, single-sex) and transport while in Libya while be paid.

There are several commonsense factors you should consider when applying
for a post, attending an interview or working abroad.
Do not provide any banking or credit card information when applying
for a job.
If you are concerned about divulging your home address in your resume,
consider using a post office box or similar forwarding address.
When attending a job interview, if you feel in any way uncomfortable
with the situation or the person/s you are dealing with, walk away. Also
consider your work location, do you feel it is safe? Would you be happy
to work there late at night?
Always let a friend know that you are attending an interview, when and
where. acquaint yourself fully with how to get to the interview and how
to get back.
An interview should always be arranged in daylight hours.
If the job appears to be "too good to be true", it probably is. Fully
research the employer via web forums, search engines and previous
employees. Most reputable employers should be happy to put you in touch
with previous/current staff.
As previously stated, no reputable employer will ask you for money
(even for a visa, work-permit etc.). If a tefl.com advertiser does ask
you for payment, refuse and contact us immediately.
As a TEFL.com member your resume contact details are not in the public
domain. Only registered employers can view your resume (contact details
removed) via our resume search engine. If an employer wishes to view
your contact details they are required to use a "ResumeView". Our system
logs all resumes viewed by the employer. You can also check as to which
employers have viewed your resume at
http://www.tefl.com/career/rv_history.html or by clicking on "Who's
viewed my resume" within your account page.
Register with your embassy as soon as you arrive in the host country.
Your safety is paramount. If you feel uneasy with any part of the
application procedure or interview, walk away!
Going abroad...
Get travel insurance and check that the cover is appropriate.
Check what vaccinations you need at least 6 weeks before you go and consider whether you need to take extra health precautions
Ensure you have a valid passport that is in good condition and the necessary visas.
Make copies of your passport (including any visa pages), insurance policy plus 24-hour emergency number, and ticket details. Leave these copies, your itinerary and contact details with family and friends.
