School
Anderson House was established in 1996. It has been an 'srl' (limited company) since 2006. It is on the outskirts of Bergamo - in Curno, the commercial part of Bergamo - with plenty of free parking. We have 10 English teachers plus 10 for other languages. 85% of the teaching is for English the remaining 15% includes Italian for foreigners, French, German, Spanish, etc. We have 7 classrooms, a computer room, a resource room for teachers, 3 offices. The school is run by myself, my wife Antonella and Hianeya our secretary. Most of the work is in companies in the vicinities of the school (10 min to 25 min drive), so most of the teaching is with adults. We have some classes with children and would like to develop this market as we offer YLE. We have 3 school cars. If you have your own, it would be ideal for us as we pay for transfer at ACI rates. Moreover, it would be convenient for you if you want to do sightseeing in the area at weekends or go skiing in winter.
Bergamo
Bergamo is in the centre of Lombardy, near the north Italian lakes, the Alps and Milan (30 miles). It is part of an industrial belt that goes from Milan to Brescia - but has plenty of countryside, hills and beautiful mountains. Bergamo has a pretty medieval Upper Town called 'Città Alta' surrounded by Venetian walls and has one of the top-ten provincial museums in Italy: la Pinacoteca Carrara (being restored at the moment). Atalanta - the Bergamo football team - are in Serie B this year but hope to return to Seria A. Bergamo also has an excellent womens' volleyball team - Foppapedretti, one of the best European American Football teams - Lions, and are crazy about cycling: the Giro d'Italia is very popular here. As for rugby you need to go to Brescia which is nearby. There is also a piano festival and Bergamo is the birthplace of Donizetti. The Bergamasks describe themselves as (in Bergamasque): 'Rasa bergamasca, fiama de rar, sota la sender brasca' - "The Bergamasque race, seldom ablaze, under the ashes embers" that is a quiet, introvert people - somewhat rugged and grim at times, but once they get to know you, they become friends for life. Bergamasks are famous in Italy for being extremely hard-working and love manufacturing things. Industry still resists here (steel industry and seamless tubes, cement, tractors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, electrical components, textile, etc) although the north of Italy is undergoing a slow and inexorable deindustrialisation.

for a post, attending an interview or working abroad.

consider using a post office box or similar forwarding address.
When attending a job interview, if you feel in any way uncomfortable
with the situation or the person/s you are dealing with, walk away. Also
consider your work location, do you feel it is safe? Would you be happy
to work there late at night?
Always let a friend know that you are attending an interview, when and
where. acquaint yourself fully with how to get to the interview and how
to get back.
An interview should always be arranged in daylight hours.
If the job appears to be "too good to be true", it probably is. Fully
research the employer via web forums, search engines and previous
employees. Most reputable employers should be happy to put you in touch
with previous/current staff.
