Details of Position
Our Schools are situated an hour from London in very comfortable boarding schools with state-of-the-art facilities. Teachers are not expected to undertake evening or weekend pastoral duties.
LINES provides an exciting summer teaching and learning environment to newly qualified and experienced EFL teachers. Our team-teaching approach offers staff the opportunity to develop their own practice by learning from their colleagues. In addition to this, weekly professional development workshops are offered and the practice of alternative methodologies is encouraged.
The LINES experience is unique in that students receive 12 hours of General English per week taught using a communicative, student-centered approach with 6 hours of Workshops which are delivered using a task-based approach, 6 hours of excursion preparation/tutorials which maximises teacher/student contact time in order to better know the students as individuals and their individual learning needs.
Above all, LINES' teachers plan and deliver lessons of a high standard that adhere to the syllabus in place at LINES and share a commitment to the welfare of the students during school hours, both on campus and off campus.Hours of work are approx 9-5 Monday to Friday, plus occasional Sunday evenings for placement testing. Meetings are usually held in the evenings, but not all are compulsory.
In 2013 LINES reintroduced a new program for 6-9 yr age group that offers an alternative program to the rest of the school. This new program, although academic, will support learning through a full leisure program delivered entirely in English. Whereas the rest of the school have a balance of learning English to use it and using English to learn it, the KIDS will have a greater exposure to the English language in context and will therefore be mainly using English to learn it, based on the principles of second language acquisition
