Details of Position

Bucksmore Education, part of the Oxford International Education Group of companies, are recruiting EFL Counsellors, Activity Managers and Directors of Studies for its British Council-accredited summer schools in Cambridge, London, Oxford, Surrey and East Sussex.

Counsellors have the opportunity to work on both the teaching and activity programmes. They will deliver engaging EFL lessons and lead stimulating activity sessions at residential summer schools in the UK. All Bucksmore staff will also have pastoral responsibilities. The Bucksmore EFL Counsellor role is a demanding but ultimately very rewarding one.

The Activity Manager role is to plan and organise the activity programme and effectively manage the Counsellors involved in each activity. Working closely with the Centre Manager and Director of Studies, the Activity Manager helps to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the centre.

Directors of Studies play an integral part in ensuring the smooth running of the academic programmes and the centre itself. We are therefore looking for high calibre individuals who can help us maintain the high standards we have set for ourselves.

Bucksmore Education welcomes individual students and small groups from over 75 different countries. For our students it is a fully immersive English language learning experience as they live, study and play as part of an international community.

Bucksmore Education has been running well regarded, high-quality residential summer schools since 1979. The results of its 2013 inspection put it in the top 10% of all English language schools accredited by the British Council.

This year we have nine centres:
-Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University
-Clare College, Cambridge University
-Magdalene College, Cambridge University
-King's College, London
-King Edward's School, Surrey
-Plumpton College, East Sussex
-St Hilda's College, Oxford University
-Brasenose College, Oxford University
-D’Overbroeck’s, Oxford

Because of the 'boutique' nature of the camps and small number of students Counsellors work with, staff have the chance to really get to know and inspire the students.

Bucksmore Education strives to have a fair and equal recruitment and selection. Successful applicants will come from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of experience but all will be able to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm to work with children and ensure they have the complete 'Bucky' experience.

Bucksmore Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The post holders' responsibilities for safeguarding the welfare of the young students for whom they are responsible and with whom they come into contact, will be to adhere to Bucksmore's Child Protection Policy.

As part of our commitment to safer recruitment all applications must include a full and up to date work and education history. You will be asked to explain any gaps in your CV and any applications with significant omissions will not be considered. You should provide the contact details of at least 2 referees. Referees will be asked specifically whether there is any reason that you should not be employed in situations where you have responsibility for under 18s.
Once appointed you will be required to provide evidence of your ID and qualifications. You will also be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check or its equivalent from abroad.

Details of all Bucksmore programmes and roles are available from our website (link below).
