Details of Position
TeachingChile works closely with Chilean schools and universities, all with the common goal to advance the nation’s working knowledge of English. Course curriculum is provided.
English Teacher for University:

Options are available to teach in the institutes facilities or to teach at a particular business site location. Teachers may also have some classes to teach university age and children as well. Course curriculum is provided.
Program Application Fee: $50 USD
Program Placement Fee: $1,395 USD
Salary and BenefitsTeachingChile participants are not expected to be volunteers. Instead they will receive directly from the school a monthly salary comparable to what local Chilean English teachers earn. Schools in TeachingChile’s network pay a minimum monthly salary of $445,000 Chilean pesos for 18 weekly hours of classroom time (more can be earned if more hours are worked). In all cases the monthly salary is paid directly to the participant from the teaching institution; nothing is withdrawn from the participant’s paycheck to pay TeachingChile.
More Company Information
Chile’s secondary schools and universities are hungry for native English speakers to assist in English-language instruction throughout the country. TeachingChile is a U.S. company that is managed, staffed and operated from an office in Santiago, Chile. The company’s charter is to help advance English in Chile by recruiting native English speakers to teach or to assist in English instruction in Chile’s schools and universities for one or two semesters. Based upon your interests and experience, and the demand at the time, participants will be placed in a public school (ranging from grades 5 through 12) or in a university (undergraduate level only). Depending on the program, participants will either assist Chilean English teachers in the classroom or take sole responsibility for the English class instruction. Likewise, depending on the program in which you are placed, the content of the instruction could be limited to purely oral communication or quite specialized in developing workshops for university students preparing for the TOEIC® exam, for example. For those applicants that are reviewed and accepted by a Chilean teaching institution, TeachingChile provides a number of services: pre-screening of the most worthwhile teaching opportunities with a monthly stipend to cover basic needs at the local standard of living, assistance in finding affordable lodging with a host family, transportation from Santiago airport to location of first night’s accommodation, experienced in-country coordinators to provide support and services during the participant’s stay, a two-week in-country orientation and training, a pre-paid insurance package that includes health and accident insurance as well as personal liability and baggage insurance, a one-year subscription to an English-language Chilean newspaper, and a pre-departure information guidebook to ensure participants are prepared for the trip including visa advice and other recommendations to be sure they are properly equipped.
