Details of Position

TeachingChile is a recruitment and placement company, headquartered in Santiago, Chile. We provide full-service assistance for qualified applicants to receive a job offer from a reputable Chilean school, visa processing arrangements, and preferred housing reservations, all of which are confirmed before the applicant boards the airplane to teach in Chile.

TeachingChile works closely with Chilean schools and universities, all with the common goal to advance the nation’s working knowledge of English. We offer a number of teaching opportunities to work with students in three distinct categories: children ages 5 to 18 (grades Kindergarden-12), university level, and adult learners, based upon your interest and experience level.

The schools within the TeachingChile network are not seeking volunteers to work for free or for a small monthly stipend. Instead TeachingChile program participants receive a full monthly salary, directly from the school, comparable to what local Chilean teachers earn.

English Teacher for Children (K-12):
30 hours per week classroom time. Class size will likely be 35-38 students. Teachers will co-teach with a local Chilean teacher. Co-teachers will participate fully as teachers in the school, assume their fair share of assignments, and all other responsibilities that other school staff are expected to accept. Course curriculum is provided.

English Teacher for University:
18 hours per week minimum. Class size is held to 18 students maximum. Teachers will have sole responsibility for the class. Teaching responsibilities will include preparing lessons and classroom activities, and creativity in language instruction. Course curriculum is provided.

English Teacher for Adult-Learner Language Institutes:
18 hours per week minimum, more can be earned with more hours of classroom time. Class size is typically 5-12 students per class. Teachers have sole responsibility for the class. Options are available to teach in the institutes facilities or to teach at a particular business site location. Teachers may also have some classes to teach university age and children as well. Course curriculum is provided.

Program Application Fee: $50 USD
Program Placement Fee: $1,395 USD

Salary and Benefits

TeachingChile participants are not expected to be volunteers. Instead they will receive directly from the school a monthly salary comparable to what local Chilean English teachers earn. Schools in TeachingChile’s network pay a minimum monthly salary of $445,000 Chilean pesos for 18 weekly hours of classroom time (more can be earned if more hours are worked). In all cases the monthly salary is paid directly to the participant from the teaching institution; nothing is withdrawn from the participant’s paycheck to pay TeachingChile.
