Dates: Induction Sat 8 + Sun 9 July. Working from 10 July – Mon 31 July 2017
Age range: 14-17 years
At Winchester College we offer an intellectually stimulating summer school designed for high level students (upper-intermediate to proficiency) who choose different Majors and Minors each week e.g. Advanced Exam Skills, Business Studies, Drama, Film Making, International Relations/Model UN, Creative Writing, Debating, Digital Photography, Leadership Skills.
We are recruiting an energetic, experienced and highly professional Advanced Exam Skills teacher. You will work closely with Discovery Summer’s Academic Manager to develop a high quality programme which will engage and challenge a class (max 16 students + 1 English Student Host). This may include additional study visits to Winchester.
You may also be involved in some residential duties and occasionally in the social programme.
Discovery Summer runs a range of high quality residential summer courses for young learners/teenagers in top independent schools in England.
In 2014 we were inspected by the British Council and awarded 13 strengths out of a possible 15. Discovery Summer is currently ranked as the top multi-centre summer school in the UK.
In 2016 we welcomed 69 nationalities including up to 10% English Student Hosts.
Over 60% of our staff returned last year. Discovery Summer’s policy is to invest in staff training.
Discovery Summer is committed to ensuring the safeguarding of children and young people and we expect our staff to share this commitment. To this end, all references will be followed up, gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily and appropriate suitability checks will be required prior to confirmation of appointment.


• Degree (any discipline)
• CELTA or Trinity TESOL
• Experience in teaching e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge exams
• Experience of teaching the relevant age group
• Readiness to participate in activities and assist with pastoral duties on residential courses
• Previous summer school experience/International school experience
• IELTS examiner or Cambridge examiner status

Salary and Benefits

This is a residential post. Full board and accommodation is offered. You will work a 6 day week.
From £480 gross per week +statutory holiday pay (12.07% paid at the end of the contract) + discretionary bonus.
