Details of Position

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the prestigious Bell Teacher Campus. This summer residential teacher development programme is delivered at Homerton College, part of the University of Cambridge. This innovative programme is now in its tenth year and attracts international English language teachers from around the world and offers them the opportunity to study a variety of bespoke English teaching methodology courses combined with a thriving social programme.
We are currently recruiting a residential Accommodation and Welfare Officer to help in the running of all areas of the programme starting 30th June 2017.

The Accommodation and Welfare Officer will provide welfare support to the course participants in resident at Homerton College for 6 weeks during the summer. Reporting to the Course Services Team Leader, responsibilities will include:

•Liaising with Bell staff, and Homerton College personnel on arrivals, departures and day-to-day operations.

•Organise pre-arrival and departure damage checks

•Attend to arrivals and departures

•Weekly checks of residence (i.e. cleaning and maintenance)

•Deal with student issues/emergences as and when they arise

•Maintain an up-to-date action and task log

•Deal with any complaints and issues at the residence in a professional manner

•Be on call for any unsociable hour issues that may require your assistance

•Be the First Aider on campus

•Ensure course participants are informed on welfare arrangements at BTC, including emergency procedures, first aid provision and medical services

The programme runs for six weeks beginning on the 30th June 2017 until the 12th August 2017 and we are ideally looking for candidates who are available for the whole period. Please be aware that this role involves weekend working.

Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable and committed. You will have previous experience in a customer service, logistics or hospitality environment, and possess strong IT skills. Previous experience of working in a similar pastoral or welfare orientated role is highly desirable. You must enjoy working in a team environment and have excellent communication and organisation skills. Experience of working with multilingual groups or in an adult education environment would be beneficial.

Salary and Benefits

£363 per week plus £43.81 statutory annual leave payment per week
