Position Summary:
We are seeking well-qualified, ambitious and committed English teachers who are capable of teaching across the full ability range of youthful students, to join our thriving Young Learners Programme. Ability to offer native level English Language advantageous.

The YL Teacher is part of the Academic Team and is responsible for delivering a superior student learning experience through the delivery of classroom instruction, tutorials and student assessment as defined in the EC Teacher Standards. As part of the Academic Team the teacher, in collaboration with the YL Academic Manager sets individual learning and development goals and actively seeks opportunities to further develop teaching practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes a positive learning environment for Young Learners, ensuring that they feel supported in their learning and able to take risks with language
- Delivers lessons that are motivating and engaging with a focus on learning and progress
- Provides feedback and support that encourages Young Learners to develop both their language skills and their learning autonomy
- Completes all administrative duties in a timely manner
- Works in the school team and the teaching team in a professional manner
- Takes an active interest in self-development and creates and achieves development goals
- Participates in in-company and industry events and promotes and facilitates best practice through active collaboration with other EC teachers
Duties assigned include, but are not be limited to the following:
- Plan and deliver lessons assigned by the YL Academic Manager in accordance with EC Teacher Standards
- Complete class administration in a timely manner, including: Records of Work, student attendance, student assessment reports
- Set and mark homework and tests according to the EC assessment rubrics
Provide students with focused tutorials
- Attend Staff meetings and training sessions as directed by the YL Academic Manager
- Seek feedback from students, peers and manager
- Set development goals in conjunction with the YL Academic Manager based on observations, feedback and individual areas of interest
- Follow the directives in the employee handbook and teacher manual
- Provide occasional substitute coverage
- Participate in internal CPD events
- Assist the YL Academic Manager in piloting new materials and programs
- Conduct peer observations
- Keep current with school policies and company aims
- Check work notices and announcements


Education Required:
- B.A. Degree
- CELTA / Trinity Certificate (or equivalent)
Experience Required:
- Demonstrated ability to work with new technologies for teaching and administration

Professional Conduct
- Colleagues & Management: Maintains professional supporting working relationship with colleagues
- Maintains open communication with all staff, particularly the YL Academic Manager. Familiar with school policy and company aims
- Knows the other departments' roles and who to advise students to speak to
- Attends and contributes positively to meetings
- Students: Behaves appropriately with students both in and out of the classroom and treats all students with respect. Shows respect for the culture of others
Development of Skills and Knowledge
- Ensures skills and knowledge are updated and extended and shares ideas for best teaching practice by participating actively in the centre professional development programme and staff room discussion. In conjunction with the YL Academic Manager sets development goals and works to develop teaching through research, reflection and seeking feedback.
Eligibility and Safe Recruitment:
- Applicants MUST be eligible to work in the UK
- EC is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment
- A DBS Check will be requested in the event of a successful application
- Completion of a DBS application is condition of employment
- All gaps in CVs must be explained satisfactorily
- Proof of identity and qualifications will be required
- All references will be followed up and reference requests will ask specifically whether there is any reason you should not be engaged in situations where you have responsibility for, or substantial access to, persons under 18
