Details of Position

We are recruiting for professional, well-qualified, creative and enthusiastic staff to work with us on our successful, well-established summer school programme. New College Group Summer School is based at Queen Ethelburga’s College in York and will operate from 28th June to 13th August 2017.
New College Group has 2 thriving schools based in Manchester and Liverpool City Centre.
Our International Summer School has recently completed its fifth year and operates during the summer holidays for six weeks. The programme offers a wide range of academic, sporting and cultural opportunities for approximately 300 students, aged 11-17, from all over the world.
Students will enjoy 15 hours of English lessons per week and take part in a full activity programme in either the mornings or afternoons, as well as the evenings and weekends. The students will go on one full-day excursion and one half-day excursion each week.

Senior Teacher
The Senior Teacher will support the Director of Studies with all aspects of the academic programme, deputising when required to do so. You will carry out placement tests when necessary, helping with administrative tasks and lead CPD sessions.
This role includes;
-Supporting the Director of Studies
-Conducting student placement tests and the classing of new students
-Teaching and covering classes when required
-Holding daily teachers’ meetings
-Completing administrative tasks
-Preparing leaving certificates
-Effectively induct teachers at the beginning of the course
-Setting up the Teachers’ Preparation room with appropriate signage and maintain it as a functioning workspace
-Supporting, managing and guiding Teachers through lesson observations, feedback and workshops
-Carrying out lesson observations and providing feedback
-Carrying out regular teaching workshops and idea sessions
-Dealing sensitively with enquiries on classes and levels
-Undertaking any other duties to assist in the day-to-day running of the Summer School
We are looking for talented teachers who will adapt to all the different aspects of summer school. When you are not in the classroom you will supervise students on excursions and carry out activities on site including team games and sports. This combined role allows you to spend time with the students in different capacities. You as an individual will be one of the critical factors in ensuring that students have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The role includes;
-Teaching full days Monday - Friday
- Lesson planning time
-Placement testing new students
-Completing registers, weekly plans and any other administrative duties required
-Attending teachers’ meetings and CPD sessions as required
-Ensuring a positive learning management in the classroom
- Occasionally assisting in evening activities and at weekends, as and when required
-Undertaking any other duties to assist in the day-to-day running of the Summer School
Please Note
All positions are residential
An enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check will be made prior to confirmation of employment. Where appropriate foreign police checks will be required.
The cost of the DBS will be split between NCG and yourself, your contribution will be £27 and will be taken out of your first payment.

Salary and Benefits

Senior Teacher - £440 per week + holiday pay
Teacher - £400 per week + holiday pay
