Details of Position

The Centre Manager is expected to accept and successfully handle a demanding workload and assume responsibility for the preparation, installation, operation and outcomes of the programme at the designated summer school. You will utilise your interpersonal skills as well as your trouble-shooting abilities.
You will have a strong managerial team to support operations and in return, we expect you to be proficient in all areas of the summer school environment. A strong yet approachable persona is essential to ensure you effectively lead and support all your staff throughout the summer. Your priority will be the overall success of the school and the continuing success of its professional relationships.
The Ideal Centre Manager will be highly organised and have successful experience of managing a team of up to 40 staff. They will be able to confidently delegate and deputise for any of the senior positions. They will be driven, goal orientated and a proven operator at this level.


Education, Training and Knowledge
¨ a) Educated to degree level or NQF level 6 equivalent (A)
¨ b) Thorough understanding of transport logistics (A/I)
¨ c) Computer literate with emphasis on Microsoft Outlook & Excel (A/I/T)
¨ d) Understanding of welfare provisions and duty of care (A/I)
¨ e) Knowledge of foreign cultures (A/I)
¨ f) A good understanding of the law pertaining to child welfare issues and knowledge of British Council accreditation.
¨ g) Very good level of spoken and written English (CEFR B2 minimum, e.g. FCE/IELTS 5-6.5) (A/I)
Relevant Work Experience
¨ a) At least 2 years’ experience in an EFL summer school environment (A/I)
¨ b) Previous experience in a similar role (A/I)
¨ c) Previous line management experience (A/I)
¨ d) Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment (A/I)
Skills and Abilities
¨ a) Strong proven communication, problem solving and managerial skills (A/I/T)
¨ b) Strong discipline skills and the ability to maintain authority (A/I)
¨ c) Meticulous and thorough approach to work (A/I)
¨ d) The ability to manage a team towards a common goal (A/I)
¨ e) A professional approach to work with effective time management (A/I)
¨ f) ‘Can do’ approach to work and ability to work under pressure whilst being adaptable (A/I)
Other Attributes
¨ a) An approachable attitude and a team-player mentality (A/I)
¨ b) A smart appearance (I)
¨ c) Satisfactory DBS disclosure or equivalent (A)

Education, Training and Knowledge
¨ a) NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) or equivalent in a relevant discipline (A)
¨ b) Current Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL Certificate , PGCE or equivalent (A)
¨ c) Good working knowledge of at least one foreign language (A/I)
¨ d) First Aid certificate/Life Guard certificate. (A)
Relevant Work Experience
¨ a) At least 1 years’ experience in a senior role directly concerned with the service industry or similar (A/I)
Skills and Abilities
¨ a) Strong administrative skills (A/I/T)
¨ b) Current driving licence. (A)
¨ c) Experience using Microsoft Office365

Salary and Benefits

£655.00 per week (plus bonuses)
