Details of Position

Based at The Leys school in Cambridge, you will be responsible for overseeing the behaviour of Bell Cambridge students accommodated in The Leys school, with specific responsibility for the safety, security and pastoral care of Bell students aged 16 and 17 staying in the residence. This is a six week residential position and will involve working shifts (including nights and weekends). This position will work alongside a Residence Assistant.
Dates: 02 July 2017 - 13 August 2017

The post holder will deal with weekend arrivals and departures, induction to The Leys Residence, student queries, ensuring under 18s adhere to guidelines and curfew and generally ensuring the safety and security of all Bell Cambridge at The Leys residential students and The Leys residence property, together with other general duties as required.
• Ensure smooth operation of student arrivals and departures, in liaison with Accommodation department , Student Services Manager and School Administrator
• Induct students to the residence, including fire procedures
• Ensure Residence Rules are adhered to and student discipline is maintained, in liaison with Student Services Manager and School Administrator
• Ensure welfare, safety and security of students at the residence in liaison with the School
• Ensure students aged 16 and 17 follow under 18s guidelines and safeguarding procedures, including adhering to 23:00 curfew
• Deal with student queries and provide information as required in liaison with Student Services Manager and School Administrator
• Ensure security of The Leys school residence and furnishings/ property
• Be on call, available for emergency contact in case of incident
• Report incidents or concerns immediately to Student Services Manager or School Administrator and record all such incidents
• Adhere to all procedures in operation and any other general duties as required

Qualifications

Education Level
Essential - Degree level qualified

Professional/Technical Qualifications
Desirable - Social or pastoral qualification
Counselling qualification
Experience
Essential - Pastoral / welfare experience
Working in a residential environment or boarding house
Desirable - Working with children and young people
Awareness of safeguarding guidelines
Team leadership / people management

Personal Skills/Qualities
Essential - Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational skills
Personable and approachable
Ability to deal with younger students
Time management / able to multi task and work to deadlines
IT literate

Ability to work unsocial hours including night duty
