Details of Position

Responsibilities:
Lead the Induction for EFL Teachers.
Advertise/ interview and select/ hire teachers (with the support of the School Director).
Manage the teaching staff to create a positive, enthusiastic team to deliver a high quality program ensuring student satisfaction.
Plan, prepare and teach English (10-15 contact hours per week) to a high standard, with the emphasis on oral communication.
Placement testing of new students.
Create new materials (first lessons/ needs analyses/ end of year tests)
Monitor teaching staff levels to ensure that the appropriate staffing levels are maintained and inform the School Director of any concerns.
Ensure that all lessons start and end on time.
Carry out monthly observations with constructive feedback sessions of the observations.
Hold workshops for the teachers once a month. These workshops should relate to something that has come up through their observations and they feel needs addressing, or some requested input by teachers.
Hold weekly/two-weekly meetings with the teachers.
Ensure teachers stay on top of their paperwork (updating records/ student assessment sheets and handover forms/ logging and recording of students results/ correcting homework/ writing out report cards)
Update homework on the website on a daily basis.
Aid the teachers in their course organisation and lesson planning.
Plan and organise the classroom distribution which will need to be updated regularly.
Be willing to substitute a teacher in the case of an emergency situation and be responsible for finding an immediate replacement.
Be responsible for collecting both early and final student feedback .
Attend weekly meetings with the School Director.
Order and manage the school books whilst respecting a budget.
Liaise with the school secretary regarding student absences/end dates and potential renewals.
Ensure that in the case of last minute cancellations , teachers have other in-school tasks to be going on with.
Liaise with external teacher trainers to plan three-monthly teacher training sessions
Translate during Parent-Teacher meetings and call parents with feedback regarding their sons/daughters.
Carry out End of year appraisals with the teaching staff.

Qualifications

Degree qualified
CELTA/ TEFL and DELTA (Dip. TESOL)

Salary and Benefits

The DoS will work 35 hours per week spanning over 5 days. The DoS will be required to work three evenings until 8pm as well as staying back to observe/cover the 8-9:30pm classes when necessary.
The DoS must therefore be highly organised in order to ensure that the required tasks are carried out within the timetabled hours as we do not offer overtime.
1 year fixed term contract
€1400 net per month
