Centre Managers, Teachers and Activity Leaders at Summer Language School

Details of Position

Oxford Spires runs all year round integration and language school programmes offering residential and non-residential courses for young people. Students attending our schools receive 15-21 hours of English language tuition per week and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions. We are British Council Accredited, a member of English UK and English UK Young Learners, and strive to offer the highest quality learning experiences for all students who attend our schools.
This Summer we are running four separate language schools:
Oxford – residential. From 1st July to 13th August
Oxford – non-residential. From 2nd July to 20th August.
Oxford University – residential. From 16th July to 21st August.
Padworth College, in rural Berkshire near Reading – residential. From 1st July to 13th August.

We will be running two training days in Oxford on 29th and 30th June. All staff will need to attend at least one day, senior staff two days.

For each Centre, we need the following staff:
• Centre Managers
• Senior Teachers
• Senior Activity Leaders
• Teachers (Oxford only)
• Teachers/Activity Leaders
• Activity Leaders
• Activity Leaders/House Masters

OVERVIEW OF JOB ROLES
Centre Managers
Will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the summer school at their Centre. The role involves leading coordinating the teaching and activity teams, supporting the Senior Teacher and Senior Activity Leader in their roles, and overseeing the whole activity programme based at the Centre.
MUST HAVE: Proven leadership qualities, good organisation and problem solving skills, computer literacy and a flexible and responsible attitude to work
Senior Teachers
Will be responsible for leading and supporting the teaching staff at the Centre, delivering lessons and maintaining the high standards of English tuition that Oxford Spires Language School strives to deliver.
MUST HAVE: A DELTA, PGCE, TEFLI or TEFLQ qualification, management experience and experience of creating lesson materials
Senior Activity Leaders
Will be responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of all on-site and off-site activities, supporting and leading the team of Activity Leaders and ensuring the safety and welfare of staff and students during all activities.
MUST HAVE: An outgoing and enthusiastic personality, good organisation and problem solving skills, and a flexible attitude to work
Teachers/Activity Leaders
Will be delivering engaging lessons to junior learners to a high professional standard and will be leading and assisting running both on-site and off-site activities, whilst promoting the safety and well-being of students.
MUST HAVE: CELTA, CertTESOL or equivalent qualification, high level of written and spoken English, a patient approach to teaching, and the ability to lead and take part in sports and other activities
Teachers
Will be delivering engaging lessons to junior learners to a high professional standard to ensure that each student has an enjoyable and beneficial summer school experience.
MUST HAVE: CELTA, CertTESOL or equivalent qualification, high level of written and spoken English, a patient approach to teaching, and the ability to work as part of a team.
Activity Leaders
Will be planning and delivering the activities programme to ensure that each student has a safe, enjoyable and beneficial summer school experience.
MUST HAVE: Experience of working with young people, the ability to enthuse and engage with young people, a co-operative and flexible attitude, and the ability to lead and take part in a range of sporting activities
Activity Leaders/House Masters
Will be planning and delivering the activities programme to ensure that each student has an enjoyable and beneficial summer school experience, and to be responsible for the welfare and wellbeing of students during their stay with us.
MUST HAVE: Experience of working with young people, the ability to enthuse and engage with young people, be approachable and caring, with a good understanding of safeguarding
ESSENTIAL FOR ALL STAFF:
• Excellent spoken and written English language skills
• A high level of inter personal skills and the ability to enthuse and inspire the students
• The ability to work under pressure, be flexible, work with others, have a can-do attitude and be able to think on your feet.
• All staff need to pass strict safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS Disclosure
DESIRABLE FOR ALL STAFF:
• Experience of working with young people at English language summer schools
• A first aid certificate
• Current clean driving licence
