M.A. IN TRANSLATION OR A TEFL DIPLOMA?
"I have been teaching English as a foreign language in Barcelona for the past five years at an academy and have recently finished the first year of a Master's in Applied Linguistics, obtaining a postgraduate diploma with the option of continuing for another year in order to obtain the Master's. However, I am uncertain as to my next course of action. My intention is to improve my teaching position and would very much appreciate your advice. Although the Master's course was in Applied Linguistics, it specialised in translation and NOT tefl. I have therefore considered the option of not continuing with the Master's and instead undertaking a Diploma in tefl as my objective is to continue as a teacher as opposed to translator. Am I right in thinking that the Master's (specialising in translation) is less useful to me than a diploma in tefl? Please help. "
