  NON-EU STATUS
"As a fully accredited efl/esl teacher (20 years experience) with teaching certificate and B.A., I have the impression that my non-EU status (I am American living in Israel) will make it difficult to get a job in Europe (Spain, Portugal, etc). Is this the case and do you have any suggestions? As well as teaching experience at all age levels, I have served as 'mentor' for the Edu. Ministry for 5 years. "

First Degree
Q.
While browsing through the FAQs section of your website and also some job opportunities posted on your website, I noticed that a " first degree " is often mentioned. Does it matter what field this degree is in or will any university degree be acceptable? The answer to this question has quite an impact on my plan since I'm assuming all I need at the moment to be qualified to teach English as a second language abroad is a TESOL certification course.

A.
It rather depends. In many countries a first degree (in anything) is the base qualification in order to obtain a work permit to teach English. However, individual employers may have a preference for particular degree subjects/majors, which, for obvious reasons, cannot be generalised.
