As I plan to retire in a year and I am in excellent health, I would like to obtain credentials that would allow me to compete for positions to teach english as a second language, in other countries. Can you provide me with some advice on what courses I should take and what credit I can get for my experience and education. A. An entry level certificate qualification would be the most appropriate. Courses of at least 100 hours with a minimum of 6 hours teaching practice are generally regarded as the accepted 'industry standard'. With regard to credit for previous experience and education, it is a question of inquiring of the course provider/s what provision they have for recognising prior achievement.
