I have applied for several positions for teaching English abroad, however, I receive the same response: Being that I am not a member of the EC, obtaining a working permit is difficult, therefore I am not being considered. Could you please advise me on this matter. A. If you are a non EU citizen applying for jobs within the European Union it is true that EU citizens have preference although it is not impossible for non-EU citizens to work within the EU. It is a question of convincing the powers that be that you are the best person for the job over and above your EU counterparts, which is not always easy.
