  QUALIFICATIONS FOR NON-NATIVE SPEAKER TEACHERS
"I have a question for you concerning getting a certificate of teaching English (in Asia or South America for instance). Since I am an English teacher (upper secondary school), although educated in Sweden I have the necessary teaching skills, and normally people hardly hear an accent when I am speaking. I assume I still have to take a test/course (or equivalent) in order to obtain a ESL/EFL-certificate, but I do not know how to go about it here in Sweden. "

Teaching Immigrants/Refugees
Q.
Enquiry: I am quite interested in trying to find work teaching english to immigrants or refugees living in the UK. I think this could prove to be a very rewarding way of teaching English but am unsure of where to start. Do I have to contact local authorities directly? Are there any websites which deal specifically with this kind of teaching? Many thanks in advance for your help.

A.
Local authorities are a good place to start as many of them run language programmes for immigrants and refugees or know of charities within their boroughs that do. You may also like to try The Refugee Council www.refugeecouncil.org.uk
