Is a CRB check necessary to teach overseas?
"I recently applied to teach English in Korea. Despite the fact that I hold a TESOL qualification and am a qualified secondary school teacher I was told that I would not be accepted due to having a criminal record. I committed a public order offense which occurred nine years ago when I was 19 but have no other convictions. Please could you let me know whether all countries have a zero tolerance policy on criminal records as I can't seem to locate this information on the internet. If this is not the case, please could you let me know which countries I would be eligible to work in."

Q.
Enquiry: I started out in EFl 30 years ago when I did a Languages degree then taught In Europe then did my Level 2 qualification before going on to teach and train teachers for 14 years.I accidentally left efl after some personal problems and have ended up working as a Manager in a completely different discipline. I deeply regret leaving Efl as it was always my first love .Can I return at my age 52?

A.
Not only are there laws against age prejudice in many countries, good employers also recognise the value of qualifications, experience, and a level of maturity that someone your age could bring to a teaching post within their organisation.
